Indozone
A comprehensive UI/UX overhaul for Indozone, transforming a single news portal into a powerful, scalable ecosystem that seamlessly integrates over 100 local and niche media outlets into one unified digital experience.

The Challenge
As Indozone expanded, they faced the massive task of managing 100+ sub-brands (local and niche news). The existing interface was cluttered and struggled to maintain a consistent brand identity across various niches while providing specific "homes" for local news.
The primary pain points were:
Navigation Overload: Users felt overwhelmed when trying to find specific local or niche content.
Inconsistent Branding: Sub-media lacked a distinct identity while still needing to feel part of the Indozone family.
Content Hierarchy: High-frequency news updates led to "headline fatigue," where important niche stories were buried too quickly.
Our Solution
We redesigned the UI with a "Unified yet Unique" approach. Our strategy focused on creating a modular design system that could adapt to different content types without breaking the core structure.
Modular Grid System: We implemented a flexible "card-based" layout that allowed Indozone to highlight different niches—from tech to local culture—using distinct color-coded accents and typography scales.
Contextual Navigation: We introduced a smart sidebar and a "Regional Hub" selector. This allowed users to filter the entire news feed based on their location or interest in a single click, reducing cognitive load.
Sub-Brand Identity Framework: We designed a dynamic header system. When a user enters a niche media section (e.g., "Indozone Tech" or "Indozone Yogyakarta"), the interface subtly shifts its color palette and logo to reflect that niche, while maintaining the global Indozone navigation bar for brand continuity.
Optimized Readability: Understanding that media users consume content rapidly, we overhauled the typography using a high-contrast serif/sans-serif pairing, ensuring long-form articles were easy on the eyes across both mobile and desktop.
Results
The new design provided Indozone with a sustainable framework to continue adding more local media without technical or visual debt. The result was a 35% increase in cross-niche navigation and a significantly lower bounce rate on local news landing pages.
